We had a lovely artful day yesterday. As usual, it happened when we had absolutely nothing planned and barely even left the house. The day was free-flowing, a bit lazy, a bit indulgent, and the perfect end for the week.
I made curtains from my happy fabric find of a couple months ago.
Maia asked for a book to write so I made one (like this), and she drew in it with our new oil pastels from Discount School Supply. I placed a big order from them a few weeks ago–justified by my art class. I heart art supplies. But you know that.
After coming across my saved egg cartons and paper towel rolls, Maia insisted we collect rocks outside (what else are egg cartons for, after all!). And yes, she painted them. Who was it who said we’d probably end up with countless painted rocks?
I also worked on some new etsy stuff during Maia’s nap. And cooked zucchini-sweet potato bread for today’s potluck brunch.
Days like these fill me up.

That sounds like a wonderful day! LOVE the curtains! I’ve been wanting to make kitchen curtains for so long, and now that I’m almost finished with the Pleated Beauty bag from Bend-the-Rules Sewing, maybe I should shop around for a happy fabric find of my own.
My kids love painting egg cartons and old oatmeal containers, but I haven’t tried having them paint rocks. They’d love it. As you know, my son is a HUGE rock hound. We’re going to another rock show tomorrow. Maybe my daughter will behave this time (but probably not).

I love the curtains!
The oil pastels have been a big hit with the 3 year old at my house, they are so satisfying to use!

Oil pastels are on my list—my oldest loves art supplies as much as you do I think! Posted you a pic on the etsy feedback of my little feather. Love the rock painting pic!

I love days like that too. How do you like Discount School Supply? Have you ordered from them before? Have a nice weekend.

Sounds like a lovely day! – and I love the curtains. They have a fun, retro look. Have you seen the craft book _The Complete Book of Retro Crafts_? You might like it. Not sure. But I found it at the local library.

I love days that just roll on beautifully like that and with gale winds and rain here, I envy having a window open. We have two weeks holidays now and we will definitely make some of these books.

I really want to find fabric like you did to make cute curtains like you did. Was it a garage sale?

Molly – this is my first time ordering from Discount School Supply. Why?
Frivolitea – I haven’t seen that craft book, but it sounds interesting. I’ll have to see if our library has it.
Elizabeth – Yes, the fabric was from a garage sale. A woman who used to own a fabric store was selling off a bunch of her old fabric.
Everyone else – thanks for the comments!
Take care,
Jean
