When I said I was going to take a little break, I really thought it would be more like two days rather than two weeks. But I needed the two weeks. Thanks for your patience.
I’m feeling a bit better now about life and all the big messes it brings, including my own insecurities and identity crises. I’ve been reading When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron. Yes, another book. I know. I won’t ever forswear reading and books, though. And it’s a wonderful book. So much wisdom on dealing with changes and fears. Someone close to me has been ill and I’ve had a hard time dealing with it.
It might take me a little while to get back into the swing of blogging regularly. And besides which, there hasn’t been much art going on here lately to post about. We’ll have to remedy that (after I clean out the studio)…

Welcome back! Sometimes we’re harder on ourselves than anyone else could possibly be…don’t you think?! I know I am. I highly recommend adding “Buddhism for Mothers” to your reading list…it has helped me get back to the things that really matter, and to let go of some of the things that don’t…

It’s good to see you dipping your toe in again, as you say. I’m sorry about someone being ill near you. Sometimes those life challenges can just suck the creativity right out of us. Hang in there. Keep doing what you need to do to support yourself. The flowers, candle and tea look wonderful!

Hi Jean!
Welcome back! I’ve been checking up on you, and I’m glad to see this post! I’ve started blogging under my own domain, and Janine has had her baby! I haven’t heard from any of the other WPSS classmates recently, have you?

Jean, you have been in my thoughts. So glad to see you back. Healing thoughts and blessings to you and your loved one who is ill. Having lost my father earlier this year I can understand how illness and loss can turn one’s world upside down. I will have to check out the book you mentioned.

I really like your blog with having a young one myself at home. I actually set up a Marble Painting playdate with my son’s playgroup for Oct. 29 after reading and learning about your blog. We are looking forward to it. I also bought him a felt board and some farm animals after seeing what you did for your little daughter. Thanks for the inspiration. Glad to see you are back and my prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Blessings,
Jilleen

Welcome back! Be easy on yourself and let go of the pressure of posting, sometimes you just have to go out and live “offline” for awhile so that you have something to say!

Welcome back! I read you here in Scotland and have missed your posts. One thing that I have noticed is that there is a huge difference in the blogs I see in the US and the ones I read that are based here in the UK. To generalise, there seems to be much more pressure on US bloggers to show a ‘perfect’ or idealised version of life. I find these blogs extremely seductive, but I know deep down that I’m seeing the tiny perfect bit of someone’s life- the part that they want me to see. The blogs here in the UK are, I feel, much more real and honest and display plenty of human frailty, failings and genuine life. Maybe I could pass on a few blog addresses for you to look at? I’m sure you’d realise then that you are just the same as the rest of us: you’re a great individual who is doing her best and who has her fair share of shit to put up with and work through. Personally I find someone who is gloriously imperfect, flawed and up and down like a rollercoaster much easier to relate to. I’ve lost both my brother and my father in recent years and I know that another’s illness is the deepest trough that you can find yourself in. There’s no way to make that better, no way to make a quick fix. There’s just a hard journey that no one else has ever taken because they’re not you and they don’t have your circumstances/ past/ hang ups/ dreams for the future. It’s awful and unique and one day will be just a memory.
Anyway, I had no intention of writing all this! Please e-mail me if you’d like those imperfect mother’s blog addresses! Or if you’d just like a chat!

Welcome back. You are an inspiration. I just posted that we are going to make your flannel board on my blog. I can’t wait. As a librarian, I love telling flannel stories and they are so great for children’s creative play. Love it! Thanks so much. Look how much you have been missed!
